HAHA I BUY SNYDER’S BATMAN MONTHLY… I like it well enough, but I don’t think I’d get the trade. It reads well monthly too, I think.
(Also it’s good, but I have weird picky Batman-issues with it. Nary a Batman writer can portray him to my standards because I am a freak.)

But Ultimate Spider Man, X-Factor, Rachel Rising, Princeless… I WANT THEM but I must wait. (August for X-Factor too esrdiluhriuhtg. The hardcover is only though maybe I should…………………fksjrdlughrlug.) 

But yes I think these tea and cake meetings are more than acceptable because

Really? ‘Cus I thought the black mirror was a great book. Is he like Morrison where you spend six months going OMG WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT???! And then it ends and you’re like, ‘if I had know that’s what would happen next I would not have been nearly so interested in this book’ (I understand you may disagree with me on that one).

I think my hardest trade wait right now is actually Batwoman (the art makes me so happy). I’m also twiddling my thumbs hoping Marvel might bring out a full edition of ‘Thor: The mighty Avenger’, oh and ‘Princeless’ as well obviously.

See we practically have a support group going already (needs more cake tho).

Haha, Morrison… I have a friend who’s practically in love with him. I better not say anything else or he’ll get mad at me. :9 (Good or bad, it’s a trap!)

Snyder’s writing is really good! My problems with Batman are purely crazy-Arielle-problems. I wouldn’t base them on normal human being standards. I mean, if it wasn’t good, I wouldn’t be buying it every month… Plus the art’s really good (although I think what I like most about it are the color palettes), and they do some really cool gimmicky stuff with it that works really well with the floppies. (That was…the issue before last that they did that.)

It’s kind of psychedelic, which is cool, and I love the way that he obviously ships Batman/Gotham like I do. (The whole premise of this arc can be sort of summarized as “Gotham is totes cheating on Batman with another crazy man dressed as an animal but wait WAS SHE MARRIED ALL ALONG??? Gotham how could you.)

Again, my deal with it is very specific: I don’t 100% agree with Snyder’s characterization with Batman.  Not to say that it isn’t a characterization that works, but it’s not the same as the one I’ve got built up in my head. (Again, crazy-Arielle-problems.) It’s especially evident in the…the book before the book before last…issue 4 I think? He writes Batman as a hyperintelligent powerhouse, which Batman obviously is. But he also writes him with a faint undercurrent of arrogance or cockiness (possibly both), which I never saw in Batman. It’s a perfectly reasonable trait to write into Batman, and it’s not the first time somebody has done it, it’s just not the way I like my Batman.

My Batman is a bit cold, very blunt to the point of near social cluelessness (which would mostly only show around the people he’s closest too because we know Batman’s also the best actor), and he’s brutal. But he’s always prepared for anything, so instead of cockiness, I feel like he’d have more wariness. (I think my Batman would be very tense, constantly. Poor guy, I know how that feels.) I like Contingency Plan Batman. He’s confident in his plans, yes, but he’s acutely aware that he can fuck up at any time. Batman knows the world isn’t fair. He knows he’s working off of a disadvantage. My Batman is a control freak with serious issues, but he’s efficient. He controls things because he knows how to get things done. He’s the kinda guy that doesn’t leave loose ends, the kinda guy who’s super careful about every action he makes. My Batman don’t get sloppy, y’hear? He doesn’t let anger or fear cloud his judgement when dealing with a problem. Probably the only thing that can take him down is sadness, and even then…

And holy balls I did not mean for this to turn into a post about my Batman Feels.
Sorry about that.
My point is Snyder’s Batman is good, just not the way I’d write him.

And about Batwoman… I’m buying the trade for that one too, I think, but I have no self control, so I’m buying the monthlies too. Eee!!! It’s actually my favorite pull each month so NO REGRETS
